Twin Cities-Mankato Intercity Passenger Rail
In February 2010 the Minnesota Department of Transportation approved a Comprehensive Statewide Freight and Passenger Rail Plan. Heavy trains will move at 80 mph or more on all corridors in the rail plan. Stations will be more than five miles apart.
The Twin Cities-Mankato Corridor breaks into two forks at Savage. The circled fork (part of MN&S line) is the site of the suggested light rail route. Omitting this extravagant fork from the Twin Cities- Mankato Corridor improves the economic evaluation of the otherwise marginal concept.
